Shot Show Days 3 and 4

LAS VEGAS – The steady stream of gun dealers, celebrities and gun enthusiasts continues at the FNH USA booth. The sales energy is high, and dealers are getting their orders in early to make sure that all the latest FN firearms will be on their shelves in 2010.

Two new guns from FNH USA are making quite a stir among SHOT Show attendees. Here’s what everyone is talking about in Las Vegas:

First up is the new FNX series of autoloading pistols, available in 9mm and 40 S&W chamberings. The FNX series incorporates many of the ergonomic refinements and features that have made the FNP-45 so popular with shooters. Also included on the new FNX guns are a host of impressive features like hammer-forged stainless steel barrels, stainless steel slides, ambidextrous operating controls and a new Deep-V rear sight notch design that makes it quicker to pick-up and align the three-dot sights on target in virtually any lighting conditions. Like all FN pistols, the FNX comes standard with three magazines.

The new SCAR™ 17S carbine is now headed for dealers’ shelves around the country. Chambered in 308 Winchester/7.62×51mm NATO, the semi-auto only SCAR 17S is based on the new USSOCOM service rifle platform, and offers a free floating 16.25” hammer-forged barrel, monolithic alloy upper receiver with multiple integrated MIL-STD 1913 mounting rails, fully ambidextrous operating controls and a fully-adjustable, telescoping, side-folding polymer stock. If you want the latest in technology in a hard-hitting, accurate rifle platform, you need to get behind a new SCAR 17S.

Steven Segal visits the FNH USA SHOT Show Booth

On the celebrity watch, actor Steven Seagal, star of the reality TV series “Steven Seagal: Lawman” stopped by the FNH USA booth to get a first-hand look at the latest FN products. An accomplished martial artist, action-film icon and a reserve deputy sheriff from Jefferson Parish, Louisiana with two decades of service, Seagal obviously knows a thing or two about guns.

As the 2010 SHOT Show concludes, many members of the firearms industry and gun media have noted new 3-Gun Competition theme that is becoming the centerpiece of the FNH USA commercial products marketing message. This fast growing sport is featured throughout the latest FNH USA catalog, which is available at no charge at the SHOT Show or by online request at fnhusa.com.

FNH USA launched their action and practical shooting team in early 2009, and the squad soon began making appearances at major 3-Gun events and industry shoots across the country. Notable finishes by the team included a second place team showing at the 2009 Industry Masters, and a national title for Tasha Hanish in the Women’s Tactical Division at the 2009 USPSA Nationals.

A capable and aggressive competitor, Tasha Hanish is soon to become a household name in the practical and action shooting fields. Along with her husband Mark, the couple trains at the Scottsdale Gun Club in Arizona, honing their skills for the next big practical shooting competition.
Tasha Hanish was on hand to demonstrate her 3-Gun prowess at Monday’s FNH USA VIP Shoot at the Nellis Air Force Base Firing Range, laying down a blistering time that set the pace for the rest of the field.

During the SHOT Show, Tasha Hanish was in the FNH USA booth to sign autographs, pose for photos with fans and give expert tips on practical and action shooting technique.

The 2010 FNH USA Shooting Team lineup currently includes Tasha and Mark Hanish, Larry Houck, Dianna Liedorff, Dave Neth, Ken Pfau and team captain Tommy Thacker. Look for them at a major 3-Gun event near you. They’ll be showing how FNH USA pistols, shotguns and carbines are the guns you need to have when you want to win.

Both individual and team matches will be held, and the prize table will make every shooter happy they participated in this exciting event.

SHOT Show Days 1 and 2

Jan. 19-20 2010, Las Vegas – The 2010 SHOT Show is in full swing, and members of the firearms industry have made the FNH USA booth a ‘must-visit’ stop at the show.

Visitors to the FNH USA booth are very enthusiastic about the latest FN guns, including the SCAR™ 16S autoloading carbine, now available in both matte black and flat dark earth tan, and chambered in 223 Rem/5.56×45mm NATO.

Also sparking a great deal of interest is the new, compact FNAR autoloading rifle with a 16″ fluted barrel. Chambered in the popular 308 Win./7.62×51mm NATO cartridge, the rifle is gaining a strong following among demanding shooters looking for hard hitting power and pinpoint accuracy in a handy, compact package.

Handgun shooters are excited about the introduction of the FNP-45 tactical pistol, which comes standard with high profile fixed sights and a threaded barrel. The FNP-45 Tactical’s slide is also drilled and tapped for several optional mini red-dot electronic sights. Shooters are impressed with the pistols slick, smooth trigger pull and ambidextrous design.

The FN SLP series of autoloading shotguns is generating extensive interest in the 3-gun competitive shooting community, becoming the shotgun of choice due to its fast-cycling action, relentless reliability and soft felt recoil. The FN SLP Mark I was named the 2009 shotgun of the year by the NRA American Rifleman magazine.

Other new models being exhibited for the first time include the PS90 Standard carbine, equipped with a MIL-STD 1913 top rail, and the SPR bolt-action precision rifle with an all-new detachable Tactical Box Magazine.

Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, LAS VEGAS – More than 120 gun writers, industry partners, government and military personnel from around the world gathered today at the 2010 FNH USA VIP Shoot to get hands-on, live-fire experience with the latest models of FNH USA’s competition, tactical and military firearms. Held in conjunction with the annual SHOT Show, this media event was held at Nellis Air Force Base, and has quickly become the “must attend” shooting activity of the annual trade show.

Attendees were able to fire a wide variety of FN products, including the Five-seveN, FNX and FNP pistols, along with the SLP semi-auto shotgun, the SCAR™ and FNAR semi-auto rifles and the PS90 and FS2000 semi-auto carbines plus the latest FN military firearms.

I really like the smooth trigger on the FNP-45 Tactical,” said Adam Heggenstaller, a writer for the National Rifle Association.

Fellow NRA writer Glenn Gilbert echoed his thumbs-up approval for the FNP-45 Tactical and the new FNX series of pistols in 9mm and 40 S&W.

Patrick Sweeney with the SLP MarkI Shotgun

Patrick Sweeney of Guns and Ammo blazed his way to a successful finish in the 3-gun competition, winning an FN SLP shotgun in the process.

Several of the writers commented on the FNH USA staff’s ability to give in-depth information on the technical nuances of the products demonstrated.

Of the four live-fire stages, the one that had virtually every writer lining up for more included a chance to shoot the FN M240 and M249 SAW belt-fed machine guns that are built by FN in Columbia, South Carolina, for the US Military, along with the SCAR 17, plus the new FN SSR Sniper Support Rifle and the MK 13/FN 40GL 40mm enhanced grenade launcher. Writers got a chance to fire inert training grenades several hundred yards downrange where they impacted in a huge cloud of bright orange smoke, accompanied by the cheers of fellow gun scribes.

This is really fun!” said Laura Fortier, a photographer for Shotgun News about the firing the MK 13 40mm grenade launcher. Fortier’s shooting prowess also garnered her the prize of a SCAR 16S in the 3-gun match.

After today’s shooting event, the writers retired to the Platinum Hotel for a reception and a chance to relive the day’s high points on the firing line. While these writers will see and handle hundreds of new firearms during the industry’s biggest annual trade show, you can be sure they will remember their day on the range with FN’s latest guns for years to come.

Geared up and ready to go!

Stay tuned for all things FN at the 2010 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
